NCDC Celebrated its "Foundation Day"

National Civil Defence College celebrated its "Foundation Day" on 30-April-2013. Shri Brijesh Kumar Dixit, DRM Central Railway, Nagpur, was Chief Guest on this occasion and he appreciated the training facilities at the institute and importance of Civil Defence in our life. Mr. G.S.Saini(VSM), Director NCDC expressed that the college has contributed immensly to building a vast resource of trainers which have multiplied the number of skilled persons capable of handling crisis situation.

During the event a college was organised an exhibition of various tools and equipment used in disaster response and training at its premises to school teachers and children / parents on 29th April 2013. A Military Pipe Band musical program on this eve. The college staff paid tributes to departed colleagues of NCDC during program. Dr. U.M. Gupte, Dy.Director (Med) gave the vote of thanks and Shri R.S. Chaudhari, Asst.Director coordinated the event.

Earthquake Disaster Response

The 19th Earthquake Disaster Response Program was conducted during 25–Feb to 15 Mar, 2013 in which 33 Officers from State CD Directorates, Defence Services and CAPF's participated.

Biological Incident First Responders

The 10th Biological Incident First Responders course at NCDC campus
(4 Mar. to 8 Mar.2013) had 33 participants from various States, CAPS's Governmental organizations & Railways.

The participants undertook various skill oriented hands on exercises along with their male counter parts with same energy and motivation. More: Biological Incident First Responders course

Incident Command Management System Program

The 9th Incident Command Management System program was conducted during 18 – 22 March 2013 in which 37 Officers from States, Defence Services and CAPF’s participated. The program familiarised the participant with the operational requirements of preparing district emergency operation centre and engaged them in exercises for understanding the functional procedures adopted.

Communication for CD Trainers

The institute conducted the 31st Communication for CD Trainers program during 1st – 19th April 2013 in which 29 Officers from States, Defence Services and CAPF’s participated in the program. During the program the participants visited the Police Control Room and International Monitoring Station at Nagpur.

Disaster Psycho-Social Intervention Course

The 05th TOT Disaster Psycho-social Intervention program was conducted during 08 – 12 April 2013 in which 29 Officers from States, Defence Services and CAPF’s participated. The NIMHANS Banglore deputed Dr. Sanjeev Kumar to conduct the program along with NCDC faculty.

Conference-workshop on “Civil Protection - Experiences in India and Abroad"

The ongoing Revamping Plan has identified multi-hazard prone districts which needs strengthening of Civil Defence measures and raising of CD volunteers.

Jorhat Emergency Management Exercise (JEMEX)

The institute faculty was invited by Assam Disaster Management Authority for conducting Chemical & Industrial Emergency Response Training Module during Jorhat Emergency Management Exercise "JEMEX" from 8th to 10th Apr 2013. 45 participants took part in training session and the Simulated Hazardous Chemical Exercise.

37 participants from Orange City Water Pvt. Ltd.,Nagpur for Disaster Management training on "Water Treatment Plant" on 24th Apr 2013.

IG Visit

Shri. Sandeep Rai Rathore, IPS, Inspector General NDRF & CD, Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi visited the Institute on 19th March 2013 to review the progress on upgradation scheme as well as other pending issues.
  • Dr. Aditya Arya, IPS, Director General Home Guards New Delhi visited the institute on 12th April 2013 to see the training infrastructure raised at NCDC.
  • Shri G.S.Saini, Director NCDC was invited to deliver lecture on "Disaster Response - use of Spatial Technologies and Experience of Civil Defence" by Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, Dehradun on 18 th April 2013 for NDRF officers undergoing training.

  • 30 Officers from Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd., Nagpur for Fire Safety Week on 16th Apr 2013.

2 workshops: Revitalising Indian Civil Defence

The ongoing Revamping Plan has identified multi-hazard prone districts which needs strengthening of Civil Defence measures and raising of CD volunteers. The Workshops will aim to stress the need for sustained voluntarism for Disaster Reduction and learn from other similar Civil Protection Organizations of Europe so as to rebuild capacities in community protection and resilience.

  • Was deputed to conduct two days Workshop on Disaster Management on 20 and 21 March, 2013 for VSPM's College of Nursing and Research Center Hingna Nagpur. 165 Nursing students were participated in the workshop.
